Managing the Next Generation of Third-Party Risk

The third-party risk landscape has become increasingly complex, confronting organizations with new regulatory challenges and new risks. With the recent introduction of the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Germany’s Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LKSG), companies are increasingly challenged to integrate ESG risks in their Third-Party Due Diligence (TPDD) framework. TPDD has evolved from focusing solely on the immediate contracting party to a more expansive view. As organizations become more interconnected, the concept of 4th- and Nth-party risk has emerged as a critical component in understanding and mitigating potential hazards. With increased regulatory scrutiny, expanding third-party networks, complex risk landscape and managing potential reputation threats with limited budget and resources, driving effectiveness and efficiency is not just prudent but essential to a successful TPDD program.
